Ripple Cruise Communicator App Reviews

Just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Breeze and it didn’t work.

It worked when we tried it at home but would not work when we tried it on the cruise this week. We created new cruise and tried to add friends with their new code but no luck.

These guys may have jumped the gun. I bought this app for an up coming cruise on the Carnival Breeze only to find that, now, Carnival has blocked its usage on their ships. I want my money back!

Apparently Carnival has blocked the use of this app so the app is worthless. Very disappointed to purchase it and the app be of no use.

Just off the Carnival Elation. Didnt work. Couldnt get it to connect or find friends.

So why are you still selling this if you know it wont work?

Just got of Carnival Sunshine. It did not work. Several of us paid for this app. Definate waste of money.

Zero stars, does not work. Checked with the ships computer guy and he said Disney disabled it on their ships. You get two phones on the ship and you can call and text with them. The texting is old fashioned tapping numbers for letters, but you can be even more old fashioned and use the phone to call someone.

Recently completed a 17 day transatlantic cruise on the Princess Emerald followed by a five day Gulf of Mexico cruise. Spent a bit of time trying to get that app to work to no avail.

Just returned from a cruise this week and it worked great. Installed it on 3 phones and used for text messages and phones calls for the entire duration of the cruise with no issues

Had a lot of trouble setting it up. It connected to royals wifi then never was able to communicate with my group. Waste of money, we all got robbed. It takes a lot for me to give a bad review. This app is absolutely terrible.

Out family tried this. Some of us were able to add the others using the friend codes that Ripple assigns. 2 of us were able to text a couple of times then never again. I am not sure if it was blocked by Royal or not. It does need to run in the foreground at all times in order to use, according to the app. If all members of the family don’t have it running ( and draining battery) at all times, it won’t work. I’m not sure if it stopped working because we have screen locks after a certain number of minutes.

Worked fine for my group on rcs freedom of the seas last week. Taking off one star for the battery sucking horror it is though.

With Royal Caribbeans pervasive WiFi, I had no problem using Ripple Cruise Communicator. I had a little trouble initially setting it up but once I set my phone into airplane mode with the wifi turned on, I had to force Ripple to use the RoyalWiFi without Internet and then it worked. To prove to my travel companions that there was no charge to use it, nobody signed up for an account for an Internet package. I used one voice call that worked fine and the text messages were perfect as long as you left ripple running. Five stars when battery life is extended. Update... It is now October 2015, and less than 30 days before I sail again on Freedom of the seas, and Im not able to contact the app developers to confirm if the app is still being supported as nothing appears to have been updated since 2014. Excellent concept and great use of technology maybe someone will not let this app disappear.

Nov 28, 2015. Tried several times with no luck. Glad I only wasted a buck.
